When a Target store in Walnut Creek, California requested employees to present their legal documentation in order to keep their jobs, they were surprised to receive resignations instead of proper paperwork.
The Northern California store lost approximately 40 employees overnight and in place of the employees Target was presented with a legal wrangle by La Raza Centro Legal guru, Rocio Avila who is now representing the illegal immigrants.
A spokesperson from Target, Kate Gillen explained the employees had an opportunity to prove their eligibility in order to continue working, however most resigned without incident. (more…)

LEWISTON — In the early evening on the first day of summer, a large group of Somali boys approached a woman on the corner of Ash and Pierce streets. According to police reports, they intimidated the woman and slapped her in the back of the head before scattering into the downtown.
Five days later, shortly after midnight, a man was accosted by a group of Somali boys outside the Big Apple on Main Street. Police reports say several members of the group punched the man and took money from him. They then fled in a car.
Later that night, a woman in her late 60s was beaten by a group of Somali boys and relieved of cash while walking in Kennedy Park.
Five nights later, another man was jumped by a group of similar description. He resisted the gang and was beaten badly. He required surgery. (more…)

Ricardo Dominguez describes himself an “artivist” — a cross between an artist and activist — and he calls his newest act of civil disobedience a “Transborder Immigrant Tool.”
It’s a cheap Motorola cell phone retrofitted with GPS technology. Dominguez, an associate professor of new media arts at the University of California, San Diego, hopes to get the tool into the hands of people making the treacherous crossing of the U.S.-Mexico border on the so-called Devil’s Highway.
“It’s designed to save lives. It’s not going to promote the crossing or stop the crossing,” says Dominguez, 50, who developed the technology with other researchers at the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology. MORE>>>

Lawmakers pushing for immigration reform say job losses and a sluggish economy should not deter legislation legalizing illegal immigrants.
A coalition of Democrats say fixing the immigration system can help American workers as well.
Black, Hispanic, Asian, progressive and other Democrats unveiled the kind of immigration reform they want at a Capitol Hill news conference Tuesday.
They are proposing that illegal immigrants register with the government, pay a $500 fine for each adult, learn English, pass background checks and meet other requirements. They then are eligible for a six-year visa and when that is done a green card. SOURCE>>>

GENEVA – Swiss voters overwhelmingly approved a constitutional ban on minarets on Sunday, barring construction of the iconic mosque towers in a surprise vote that put Switzerland at the forefront of a European backlash against a growing Muslim population.
Muslim groups in Switzerland and abroad condemned the vote as biased and anti-Islamic. Business groups said the decision hurt Switzerland’s international standing and could damage relations with Muslim nations and wealthy investors who bank, travel and shop there.
“The Swiss have failed to give a clear signal for diversity, freedom of religion and human rights,” said Omar Al-Rawi, integration representative of the Islamic Denomination in Austria, which said its reaction was “grief and deep disappointment.” (more…)

By Patrick Buchanan- Nidal Malik Hasan was two men.
One was the proud Army major who wore battle fatigues to mosque; the other, the proud Arab who wore Muslim garb in civilian life.
What brought Hasan’s identities into fatal conflict was his belief that Iraq and Afghanistan were unjust wars, and his shock that he, a Muslim, was to be sent to serve in one of those wars, against fellow Muslims—a sin against Allah meriting damnation.
Hasan was conflicted by a dual loyalty—to the country he had sworn to protect, and to his perceived duty as a Muslim. When Hasan told his neighbor that morning, “I am going to do good work for God,” the call of jihad overrode his oath of loyalty as an American soldier. (more…)

By Patrick Buchanan-
September’s unemployment figures were not only disappointing — they were grim. For the 21st straight month, Americans lost jobs. Fifteen million are out of work — 5 million for more than six months.
But as The Washington Times asserts, “America’s jobless crisis is much worse than the 9.8 percent unemployment rate.”
The U.S. economy actually lost 785,000 jobs in September, which should have pushed the 9.7 percent August unemployment figure far higher than just 0.1 percent to 9.8 percent.
What kept the increase to 0.1 percent?
Over 800,000 people quit the labor force in September. They packed it in. They stopped looking for work. That is six times the number who quit looking in August and five times the monthly average of those who have given up the search for work in the year since Lehman Brothers died. (more…)

French police razed a squalid camp used by illegal immigrants in scrubland near the English Channel port of Calais on Tuesday, using backhoes and buzz saws to clear away the precarious dwellings of a fragile population, mostly Afghan minors, who were led away stunned and sometimes sobbing.
The destruction of the site — known as “the Jungle” — ends the migrants’ dreams of a new life across the Channel in Britain but signifies what France hopes will be a new era in European immigration control. People who lived there tried night after night to sneak across the Channel.
“The law of the jungle cannot last eternally,” said Immigration Minister Eric Besson, who ordered the destruction of what he called “a lawless zone where smugglers reign.” MORE>>>

A court has ordered the neo-Nazi National Democratic Party (NPD) to remove election signs declaring “Stop the Polish invasion” from a region of Germany near the border with Poland.
The court in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania said Saturday the signs were illegal and an incitement to racial hatred.
In early September, the NPD hung more than 50 of the signs up in the Ueker-Randow district of the state which borders Poland and counts more than 1,000 Polish citizens as residents. Local authorities removed the placards, prompting a lawsuit by the NPD. (more…)

Telegraph.co.uk today reports that Mohammed has become the most common name for baby boys born in London and in three other English regions.
In the capital, the Islamic name – including its varient spellings – was twice as popular as the second-placed name, Daniel, in 2008.
For those who follow these things, this won’t come as a huge surprise. We know that the UK’s Muslim population is growing, both through immigration and through its higher birthrate. We know that there are particular concentrations in London, the West Midlands and the North of England. We know that Muslim families tend to choose one particular name for their baby boys – Mohammed – a way that other communities do not. (more…)

Running through the Burger Kingparking lot at 2:30 a.m. on May 29,Shala Parker managed to catch the license plate of the green Cadillac DeVille as it zoomed onto Sixth Avenue and took a hard left onto Lincoln. To remember it, she screamed “727RUG! 727RUG!” as she ran back to where her mom,Lilian Verdonkschot, lay crumpled on her side on the asphalt. When Parker rolled her over, Verdonkschot just stared into the dark sky. Parker knew her mother had a tendency to freak out about things, so she tried to stay calm. “It’s okay, it’s okay,” she repeated, like a mantra. “Everything’s going to be okay, it’s okay.”
Paramedics arrived quickly from Denver Health, just one block away. They loaded the 49-year-old Aurorawoman into an ambulance while Parker and her friend Jennifer Goodrich had to stay behind and tell their stories to a seemingly endless line of Denver Police Department officers and detectives. Parker and Goodrich explained how two women and a man in a Cadillac had pulled up behind Parker’s Honda in the Burger King drive-thru line, and how a dispute over a cigarette request had led to a chaotic altercation in the parking lot. Parker told investigators that the women in the Cadillac had repeatedly referred to themselves as “Mexicans” and said they were going to kill the “stupid white bitches.” The last thing she heard them say before the Cadillac plowed into her mother, Parker remembered, was “Let’s just fucking hit them.” (more…)

With fewer jobs for Americans these days, are there fewer jobs that Americans won’t do?
The answer will influence whether Congress decides to grant amnesty to some 11 million illegal immigrants in the US, perhaps by next year.
Most illegal workers in the US are Mexicans who mow lawns, clean motel sheets, butcher hogs, pick strawberries, and otherwise toil away at tasks that, as George W. Bush once said, “Americans won’t do.” And they often are paid less than the minimum wage.
A widely held assumption in Washington’s debate about immigration is that native-born Americans avoid menial and dirty work. Laid-off autoworkers wouldn’t really wash dishes at a Denny’s or milk cows on a dairy farm, would they? Such a notion has long helped justify a flow of foreign workers into the US – or possibly an amnesty for those hiding from the law. (more…)

The European Union will on Wednesday this coming week formally launch its plans to flood all of Europe with millions of Third World immigrants in terms of a new “joint EU resettlement programme.”
The plan, to be announced by the European Commission, has as a first phase, the “resettlement programme” under which nations would take in “more refugees from poor and war-hit third countries.”
The next phase will be to “coordinate Europe’s response” to the tsunami of invaders from Africa and the Middle East. (more…)

Romania – At first, fans politely applauded the Roma performers sharing a stage with Madonna. Then the pop star condemned widespread discrimination against Roma, or Gypsies — and the cheers gave way to jeers.
The sharp mood change that swept the crowd of 60,000, who had packed a park for Wednesday night’s concert, underscores how prejudice against Gypsies remains deeply entrenched across Eastern Europe.
Despite long-standing efforts to stamp out rampant bias, human rights advocates say Roma probably suffer more humiliation and endure more discrimination than any other people group on the continent. (more…)

Some 65 percent of those asked say that they fear that the gang war will develop into race riots, street warfare and general unrest.
Police downplay conflict
Police authorities, however, do not believe that race riots are a likely scenario in Denmark.
“But I can understand that people are worried. I would urge people to look at what is actually happening, rather than listening to the rhetoric from the various parties to the conflict. There is no basis for the concern that people are showing – the conflict between the gangs and bikers is about crime and not race,” says Kim Klever of the National Investigation Centre (NEC). (more…)

An HIV-positive man was sentenced on Wednesday to eight years in prison after having unprotected sex with three women, including a 13-year-old girl.
The 41-year-old, identified as Kennedy O., was found guilty of eight counts of attempted assault and the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old-girl after he slept with her and two girlfriends – a housewife and a hairdresser – without disclosing he had the virus that can cause AIDS. None are known to be infected.
The eight-year sentence was added on to a five-and-a-half-year sentence the Kenyan man, who works as a DJ, has been serving for having unprotected sex with seven other women, none of whom he told about his illness, since 2007. Two of those women were infected. (more…)

PHOENIX – Prosecutors filed sexual assault charges against four boys ages 9 to 14, officials said Thursday, alleging they brutally attacked an 8-year-old girl after luring her to a shed with chewing gum.
Police said the girl’s parents criticized her after the violence, blaming her for bringing shame on the family. All five children are refugees from the West African nation of Liberia.
The boys held the girl down while they took turns assaulting her, police said.
“She was brutally sexually assaulted for a period of about 10 to 15 minutes,” police Sgt. Andy Hill said, calling it one of the worst cases the department has investigated. (more…)

Police in Greece yesterday cleared a squalid immigrant camp mainly inhabited by Afghans hoping to sneak on to ferries bound for Italy.
Bulldozers moved in around dawn to clear makeshift structures and rubbish that had been piling up in the camp in the western port city of Patras.
A fire broke out but was put out after an hour or so and by the afternoon the area had been completely cleared. (more…)
